Resources in Columbia, Missouri

Kevin's World (26 North 9th Street): Remember the personal touch in music retail? You'll find that and much more at Kevin's World, the home of Neo-Trad Retail. In Kevin's words, "an experiment in all forms of traditional and neo-traditional retail experiences: from barter and trade to consignment and even the obscure and ancients skills of haggling so long eschewed by our chauvenistic NOTRE capitalism. Why fly to GAZA when you can haggle on 9th st?"

The Peace Nook (804-C East Broadway): A non-profit, volunteer-based community resource center operated by Peaceworks. The Nook is an information and social change activism referral center. It is also a storefront offering books, music, environmental products, fair trade imports, posters, jewelry, T-shirts, natural foods and much, much more.

Main Squeeze Natural Foods Cafe (28 South 9th Street): A locally-owned, sustainably operated business, offering "delicious, natural foods prepared for your health & satisfaction."

Ragtag Cinemacafé (23 North 10th Street): "Our name, heritage and ethos dictate that we show movies that others dare not to. We show movies that are fun and we show movies that are thought-provoking, and, hopefully, we show movies that are both. We highlight homegrown and far-flung filmmakers, musicians and performers and make space on our walls for emerging artists. And everyone gets in for the same price."

COLORS (Columbia Owned Retail & Services): An educational non-profit organization that recognizes the power of communities to take charge of their destinies through informed spending decisions. Any business that's locally owned, located within Boone County Missouri, with no more than six outlets is eligible to be a member.
